Housing

For over a century, we’ve believed in the power of housing as the foundation for life.

Housing for homeless individuals comes in many forms – all with the goal of stabilization and sustainability.  Housing is more than four walls and a roof, it is many programs and services all provided to address the different needs of each individual and family we serve to end homelessness.

Shelters & Emergency Housing

Shelter: a safe, temporary refuge for homeless individuals and families.

A warm bed, a hot meal and clothing. It sounds so simple, but for many, it’s not. Meeting these basic needs can make a lasting difference for the veterans, men, and women who come to us for shelter. Providing emergency shelter services allows our clients to focus on gainful employment and stable housing, ultimately putting an end to their homelessness. Through supportive services and referrals to community resources, we can help rebuild a foundation for people who thought they were beyond reach.

Senior Housing

Independent and Affordable Senior Housing

Volunteers of America is a national leader in providing care and housing for seniors. Today, we are one of the largest nonprofit providers of affordable senior housing in the United States.

For seniors, maintaining independence is very important. In Indiana, we provide housing for seniors who want to live independent lifestyles where they can thrive and age in a safe place. Our senior residents deserve the quality of life that they desire, and our commitment to service-enriched housing offers them just that.

Permanent Supportive Housing

Permanent supportive housing: supportive housing that helps people who are facing complex challenges live with stability, autonomy and dignity.

We provide supportive housing with comprehensive services for homeless families, individuals with a disability, and individuals suffering from mental illness—people in supportive housing live more stable and productive lives.

Transitional Housing

Our transitional housing programs offer a path for individuals and families to end homelessness. Transitional housing is temporary housing combined with supportive services, including case management, employment counseling, life-skills training, assistance with securing benefits and referrals for substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling provided to help each person in this part of their journey.
