Community members gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Legacy Recovery House in Indianapolis to support women battling substance use disorders
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (October 2026)
VOA Ohio & Indiana hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Indianapolis Legacy Recovery House on Thursday, October 8 at 10 AM. The ceremony symbolized the opening of the community project designed to give women a place to recover from substance use disorder and heal together with their families.
“The new facility will provide families with a safe place to heal, access vital support and rebuild their lives. We are proud to provide a continuum of care for those in recovery.”
Jennifer Martinez
Senior Vice President of Clinical Services
VOA Ohio & Indiana
Legacy Recovery House is part of a continuum of care for mothers who graduate from the VOA Fresh Start Recovery Program. Legacy House Indianapolis, like the locations in Plainfield and Columbus, IN, will provide a group home recovery-focused living environment for women and their children.
The Fresh Start Recovery Program, previously located in downtown Indianapolis, will also move into a separate building on the Legacy House property on Michigan Road. The Fresh Start Recovery Program focuses on helping mothers recover from opioid and other drug addictions and have healthy children, and uniquely allows children to stay with their mothers during treatment. Fresh Start supports mothers and families with not only residential substance use treatment but also parenting skills development, counseling, mental health treatment and more.
The new development features 40 beds for the Fresh Start Program and 19 beds for Legacy House to accommodate those in need. There are three triplexes and a duplex, with on-site childcare available.
The ribbon cutting began at 10 AM, followed by tours of the new space. The event was open to the media.
