‘Tis the Season to be Thrifty

The rush and excitement of the holiday season is here!

As you prepare for holiday gatherings and out-of-town guests, you probably find a lot of items you no longer need around the house. Decorations and ornaments that no longer fit your style, furniture taking up too much space, and clothing you loved in a previous life.

Great news! Your previously loved clothing and household items can find new life at VOA Thrift AND give you the space and peace of mind to celebrate the holidays! Plus, there’s still time to donate your items before year-end to reap the tax benefits.

We’re here to answer your donation questions and give you one less thing to worry about this holiday season.

Q: Where can I donate?

A: We offer two ways to donate! You can visit one of our thrift stores during regular store hours to drop off your donation or schedule a pickup!

Q: Can I get a tax write-off?

A: Yes! All donations (in good condition) are tax-deductible. For your records, the Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana’s Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 34-0861121.

Q: What items do you accept?

A: We accept your gently used clothing, furniture, electric appliances, flat-screen TVs, jewelry, curtains, dishes, toys, vacuum cleaners and more. To see a full list, click here.

A: We pick up from cities in Cuyahoga County, Franklin County, Licking County, Richland County and more! See a full list here.

Q: Where do the proceeds go?

A: Proceeds of all thrift donations and purchases go toward our programs throughout Ohio and Indiana. We provide housing, veterans services, mental health and recovery treatment, residential reentry services , and more. We also give thrift store vouchers to individuals, families, and veterans in our programs.

Donating to thrift is easy! Whether you stop by one of our convenient locations or schedule a pickup, you’re giving hope to veterans, families, and individuals in your community this holiday season.
