It’s campfire time!

Get crafty this summer with our DIY upcycled roasting stick bag.

We’re in the heat of summer! With the warm weather and late summer sunset, it’s a great time to enjoy a campfire. Whether you’re in your backyard or on the road for a camping trip, roasting marshmallows is a classic summer past-time. But when it gets dark, finding your roasting sticks can be a challenge! In this DIY blog, we have a simple solution… create your very own roasting stick bag from upcycled jeans!

DIY Roasting Stick Bag:

Step 1: Gather your items:

  • 1 pair of jeans with belt loops
  • Sewing thread
  • Sewing needle or sewing machine (Because of the jean material, this project is much easier with a sewing machine)
  • Sewing pins
  • Scissors

Step 2: Lay out your jeans and cut them in half.

Step 3: Take one half of the jeans and turn them inside out.

Step 4: Decide how long your bag needs to be based on the size of your roasting sticks. Pin the bottom and sides together.

Step 5: Sew across your pinned areas.

Step 6: For the strap to hang your bag, you can get creative and use the other half of the jeans, or use something like a bandana or extra material from another project.

Easy Way: Take the fabric through two of the belt loops and tie together

Crafty way: Turn the jeans right side out and sew part of the strap to the top of the jeans and the other half about half-way down to. This will create more of a shoulder strap to make it easier to carry or throw over the back of a camping chair.

Step 7: Voila! You now have a handy, dandy roasting stick bag to keep you organized around the campfire!
