Today, Casey is leading a full life and thriving with her family.
But when she first came to Volunteers of America, she had little more than the clothes on her back and a strong determination to change her life.
After years of struggling with addiction, incarceration, and separation from her children, Casey felt alone and unsure of what the future would hold. But when she walked through the doors of VOA, she was met with understanding, support and a community of people who knew what she was going through. “You just feel like you belong there,” Casey shared. “There’s no judgment.” With help from peer recovery coaches and staff, Casey found the structure and resources she needed to begin moving forward.

Casey is excited to be celebrating more than a year of sobriety. With the help of VOA, she has built lasting friendships and is thriving with her family. For Casey, rebuilding her life has meant more than recovery, it has meant being present for her children and creating a future she once thought was impossible. Now, as she looks toward her next chapter, Casey hopes to one day work for VOA so she can offer others the same hope and support that helped change her life.
