Because of you, Anna found her way back to the light.
“I felt like I belonged.”
Today, Anna is building something steady and hopeful. She’s living a life filled with purpose, progress, and time with her three children.
But not long ago, things felt very different.
Anna’s path has been a difficult one, shaped by years of instability and challenges that made it hard to hold onto a sense of direction and care for her children. Her battle with substance use disorder eventually led to homelessness. Over time, she lost more than just her footing, she lost her belief that things could get better.
“I felt like I didn’t matter.
Like I had gone from everything to nothing.”
Still, something in Anna kept pushing her forward.
When she was ready to take that step, there was a place waiting. At Volunteers of America, Anna found not just support, but stability, community, and people who saw her for who she could become.
“It’s a welcoming place. I felt like I belonged.”
Today, Anna is working, attending therapy, and staying committed to her recovery journey. Her favorite moments are time spent with her children outdoors, laughing and playing.
And she’s looking ahead.
Her next goal? A home of her own where her children can be with her every day.
From a safe place to stay to everyday essentials, Anna built the foundation she needed to begin again.
Anna’s light is back and it’s growing stronger every day.
