There’s no place like home for the holidays, right?

There’s no place else where you can sit down in a cozy chair, with a warm blanket, a book, and a cup of cocoa. No place else where you can watch your loved ones bustle around you and know you’re truly loved. No place else where you can have a quiet moment to yourself during some time off.

But for far too many of your neighbors experiencing homelessness and hardship, home for the holidays is nothing more than a song lyric. More families, seniors, and veterans than ever before are drifting from place to place. Many are sleeping outside, going hungry too many nights in a row, and just aching for a safe home that will bring them true comfort, safety, and love.

They’re longing for a ‘home for the holidays’ that will make them ‘happy in a million ways’, just like the famous song promises.

That could be through things like safe shelter (with warm, cozy beds!), meals that feed the body and mind, clothes and hygiene items to restore dignity, counseling to find meaningful work, transportation to important appointments, or care for their souls with spiritual support.

All it takes is a little help and a lot of love for someone to see that ‘home for the holidays’ isn’t just a pipe dream. It’s something they can make real for themselves through a new job or a safe home or a renewed purpose in life.
