Donate your car to help homeless veterans.

Why donate your car or truck

Did you know that when you donate your car, truck, boat, motorcycle or RV to Volunteers of America in Columbus, you could receive a greater value for your vehicle as a charitable contribution on your tax return than you would by selling or trading it? We accept almost anything with a motor, even if it hasn't run in years. Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio offer three simple ways to donate. We even provide free towing. And when your car is sold at auction, all proceeds benefit our social service programs including sheltering the homeless, job training and veterans programs. Here at Volunteers of America, we are dedicated to rebuilding the lives of those in need and helping them reach their full potential. When you donate your automobile in Columbus, you are playing a key role in making that a reality.

So where does the money from your car donation go? It helps to preserve the invaluable programs and services that we provide day in and day out. It helps us provide basic human needs for the homeless, emergency shelter for families, mental health treatment, youth programs and so much more. It helps us assist people who have no one else in the world. When you donate your car, truck, motorcycle, boat or RV to Volunteers of America, it's giving someone a chance—a chance to get on their feet, a change to start again, a chance for independence.

More about Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio

Volunteers of America help the most vulnerable and under-served people achieve their full potential. We provide local services designed to address specific community needs. Our main focus areas include promoting self-sufficiency for the homeless and for others overcoming personal crises; caring for the elderly and disabled and fostering their independence; and supporting positive development for trouble and at-risk children and youth. We look at the whole person and address both urgent and long-term needs, with the goal of helping people become self-sufficient.

Last year we served 4,000+ people in Columbus through our homeless and housing services which include emergency shelter for men, emergency shelter for families, rapid re-housing for single adults and our Youth Education Center. Our emergency shelter provides safe and temporary shelter for homeless veterans, men and families. This includes meeting our clients' basic needs such as a warm bed, hot meals and clothing so that they can focus on finding stable housing and employment rather than survival. The Youth Education Center brings after-school and summer-enrichment programs to homeless and recently homeless children in our housing programs. It offers a safe and reliable place for children that invests in their education and encourages them to explore their emotions and communication.

In addition, Columbus' veterans services include transitional housing for veterans, a homeless veterans reintegration program, emergency housing for veterans, and mental health and substance abuse treatment programs. Our transitional housing program tackles the unique needs of homeless veterans, offering a stable environment and help moving into independent housing through our supportive services and mental health treatment programs.

There are no limits to caring. What's holding you back from donating your car or truck to Volunteers of America?
