You can help a family in need this holiday season!

Many families struggle to put food on the table or even find a safe place to sleep at night – so when the holiday season comes around, it's no surprise that many of these families do without gifts and presents for their children and loved ones. With your help, we can make this Christmas a little brighter for Columbus families in need.

Keep in mind, we only have so many families that need adopting. If you are not assigned to a family, there are still plenty of other ways you can give back to help families during the holidays.

What does it mean to adopt a family?

When you "adopt" a family, you are helping to take away a big financial hurdle for families in need by donating Christmas presents they otherwise wouldn't have. The Adopt-A-Family program benefits the families in our Columbus housing programs – families who are homeless or at-risk of being homeless and struggling to make ends meet. By adopting a family, you are giving hope for the holidays.

How does it work?

We will provide a brief family profile when you are paired with a family. We will also provide a Christmas list of suggested items to purchase. We encourage you to get two or three items per family member. When you adopt a family, you are under no obligation to spend a specific amount of money on a family, though it is standard to spend around $25 for each family member.

How do I get started?

If you are ready to help a family in need this Christmas, email debra.hughes@voago.org, or call us at (614) 253-6100. We will pair you with a family and send you their family profile by early November.
All gifts should be wrapped, and dropped off at our administrative office located at 1776, E. Broad Street.

**Adopt-A-Family gifts can be dropped off the week of December 3-7, 2018 between 9am and 4pm. This gives us enough time to deliver your presents to the families in time for Christmas!**

Other meaningful ways to help Columbus families in need.

We are always looking for extra donations to help the homeless families and veterans we serve during the cold, winter months. Please consider holding a holiday gift drive at work or church to collect household items, cleaning supplies, hygiene items, hats, coats, scarves and gloves. You can drop off your donations (unwrapped) to 1776 E. Broad Street. You can use this Wish List and Supply Drive Flier to get started!

You can also donate money and we'll use it to buy extra gifts and food for the families and veterans we serve!
